Etara

ETARA is an open-air ethnographic museum located on the outskirts of Gabrovo. Arts and crafts from bygone years are still practised here. Crafts were once part of the traditional bazaar, and a faithful reconstruction of a Bulgarian bazaar forms the centrepiece of the complex. You have the chance to watch artisans at work or to stop at a bakery and buy a “simit” bun, a Gabrovo specility. There is also an old water mill which provides the power for various workshops in timber, wine flagons and round wooden boxes.
