Sozopol

The ancient Apolonia is the most antique city on the Bulgarian seaside in the Black Sea. It was founded by Greek emigrants from Miletus about 610 BC. It is located in a small rocks peninsula. Its flourish was during 5th -3rd c.c. BC, when it became an important travel and port centre. Latter on, during the Byzantine domain, the city was named Sozopol (the City of Salvation). Now it is an important fishing centre and well-known resort in the Bulgarian seaside.
